2nd Grade Recitation Lesson Plans
2nd Grade Recitation Lesson Plans
During the grammar stage of classical education (pre-kindergarten through fourth grade), children’s minds are sponge-like in nature. They are capable of memorizing vast amounts of information. Recitation is a course designed to encourage memorization and proper presentation of chosen content. Some rewards of memorization and recitation include, but are not limited to: increasing the student’s memory, allowing him to experience eloquent language, and assisting him in learning to confidently speak in front of others.
In second grade recitation, your child will memorize carefully chosen portions of A Catechism for Boys and Girls (Questions 1-50 are a review from LPL Kindergarten and First Grade Recitation Lesson Plans while questions 51-64 are new material for second grade). He will also learn scripture passages, cloud types, types of rocks, countries of Australia and Oceania, countries of Europe, planets, major wars, phases of the moon, and Shakespeare’s “Sonnet 18.” In addition, he will review the pledges from LPL Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade Recitation Lesson Plans.
You will be amazed at what your 2nd Grader is able to commit to memory!
