Pre-K Art Lesson Plans
Pre-K Art Lesson Plans
Most children have a natural love for art! Exposing students to art encourages creativity, promotes critical thinking, introduces them to various cultures, and allows expression of feelings without words. Additionally, art increases concentration, enhances hand-eye coordination, builds confidence, and most of all…it’s fun!!
LPL have developed Pre-Kindergarten Art Lesson Plans around two books that we know your children will enjoy: Scribble Art and Come Look with Me: Enjoying Art with Children.
Scribble Art is an ideal book for young children. The philosophy of the book is that children should experiment using various mediums having the freedom to create what is in their imaginations. The developmentally appropriate lessons in this book allow for true self-expression of the young student. Through experimentation, the child will take pleasure in his creation while developing a love for art at the same time.
Come Look with Me: Enjoying Art with Children is a magnificent picture book filled with high quality masters’ reproductions of art depicting children. While your child studies the painting, the instructor will ask thought-provoking, open-ended questions, encouraging your student to think critically about the masterpiece.
Be sure to check out our other enrichment lesson plans, Pre-Kindergarten Music and Pre-Kindergarten Science. The Pre-Kindergarten Art Lesson Plans are created to alternate each week with science and music, giving your student a wide variety of experiences. For this reason, there are 12 weeks of lesson plans in this download.
