Kindergarten Math Lesson Plans
LPL Kindergarten Math Lesson Plans are formulated around Nancy Larson’s Saxon Math 1 curriculum and Can You Find Me? Building Thinking Skills. LPL lesson plans provide 36-weeks of grids that have been conveniently broken down into four-day weeks. Because all LPL products are uniform, implementing our Kindergarten Math Lesson Plans into your co-op or personal home schooling curriculum will not only provide continuity, but will save you time breaking up Saxon’s individual lessons into your calendar year. LPL’s plans also provide weekly and quarterly material lists, resulting in immediate organization and ease with supply shopping and planning.
We have chosen to use Saxon Math for all grades because it is a complete mathematics program that provides children with a wonderful foundation in math. It is a widely used curriculum throughout private, public, and home school arenas.
Saxon Math 1 is the primary text. It provides scripted lessons that are easy for both teachers and students to follow. Students will learn math through discussion, hands-on experience using manipulative materials, and ample amounts of practice. The repetition of concepts provides continuous review and encourages long-term memory of math concepts learned.
Can You Find Me? Building Thinking Skills is a supplemental text, picking up where Saxon Math 1 leaves off. Saxon Math does a wonderful job of teaching children problem solving using addition and subtraction. This additional book enables the children to solve different types of problems using logic and process of elimination. It is a fun, creative way to engage children in the thinking process.
