LPL Kindergarten Phonics and Spelling Lesson Plans are based on the phonics program, Spell to Write and Read (SWR) by Wanda Sanseri. SWR is a multi-sensory approach that allows children to write and spell their way into reading. The program is thorough, systematic, logical, and economical. Your child will delve into the wonderful world of learning the English language. He will learn to read and write 58 of 70 phonograms or symbols that represent particular sounds in the English language. Similarly, your student will memorize spelling rules, which will assist him for years to come. He will blend phonograms in order to successfully write and read his spelling words and other printed material. All of these mental exercises will lay a solid spelling and reading foundation for your child.

Because we understand learning a new phonics program (coupled with lesson plan writing) can be overwhelming, LPL has formulated 36 weeks of easy-to-follow lesson plans for kindergarten. Included with the LPL Kindergarten Phonics and Spelling Lesson Plans are a Teacher Reference Book, Assessment Book, spelling test paper, dictation paper, and a set of alphabet cards for your wall. Not included, but highly recommended, is the LPL Kindergarten Penmanship Book specially designed to follow LPL Kindergarten Phonics and Spelling Lesson Plans.

Because the pace and content of our lesson plans err on the challenging side, Kindergarten Phonics and Spelling Lesson Plans are recommended for children ages 5 to 8.
