4th Grade Science Lesson Plans

$15.00

Young children are naturally inquisitive. In order to maintain this creativity, LPL believe it is imperative that such curiosity be fostered throughout the early school years. Lesson Plan Ladies have created a fact-based, fun science curriculum that follows closely to the plan laid out in The Well-Trained Mind by Susan Wise Bauer and Jessie Wise.

During fourth grade, your child will explore the wonderful world of chemistry. Our weekly lesson plan science format will look like this:

  • Perform a fun, concept-reinforcing science experiment or activity from the physics book, recording results and discoveries

  • Read about, define, and illustrate vocabulary in a Science Notebook

  • Read an excerpt from Junk Drawer Physics

  • Review vocabulary and add new information to definitions

  • Watch a fun, memorable Internet snippet

LPL Fourth Grade Science Lesson Plans' introduction to physics will allow your child to learn a great deal while enjoying and experiencing the wonderful physical world around him!

We have formed our LPL Fourth Grade Science Plans from the following resources: Junk Drawer Physics and The Usborne Science Encyclopedia.

Junk Drawer Physics, written by physics teacher Bobby Mercer, provides incredible experiments that can be performed for less than the change you can find in your couch cushions. Who needs expensive, high-tech gadgets when you can perform over 50 hands-on experiments for pennies using this book?! Discover forces and motion, study energy and sound waves, look at light, electricity, and magnetism, and analyze forces and motion in a way your student will understand and never forget. Relish the fun of science and see physics come to life as you work through Junk Drawer Physics with your students!

The Usborne Science Encyclopedia (USE) by Kirsteen Robson is an excellent reference book with informative pictures and text. Complete with Internet QR codes for videos, you will find plenty of material to entertain and educate within the pages of this book! This book is ideal for your fourth grader, but will be enjoyed for many years to come.
